Clean City Initiative
This initiative's objective is to achieve and maintain a clean District of Columbia. Clean City Initiative works with the DC department heads that have operational responsibility to develop and coordinate clean city program activities and to deliver clean city services. The initiative has established standards for assessing the cleanliness of the entire city and evaluates it using citizen volunteer rating teams.

Business Improvement Districts
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are commercial areas of the District that collect a "self tax" from property owners to provide services and programs to the entire BID. These programs address cleanliness, maintenance, safety, promotion, economic development, and other collective business issues in their coverage areas. Below is a list of the four BIDs in Washinton, DC.

Metropolitan Police Department
The Metropolitan Police Department is committed to providing appropriate contact information to the community for both emergency and non-emergency situations. The following list provides you with the key numbers available for reaching members of the department.

Public Safety Seminars for Businesses
The Metropolitan Police Department can arrange for trained professionals to appear in communities and speak about police operations and crime prevention. Crime prevention officers are available to teach personal safety and security at home, at work, and on the street.


Emergency Preparedness for Businesses
As your family prepares a personal emergency plan, MPDC has prepared a suggested plan for your workplace. The plan focuses on 10 elements of security improvement and safety consideration.

DC Emergency Management Agency (EMA)
EMA coordinates the city's response to disasters, emergencies, severe weather conditions, and other catastrophic events. It works closely with other emergency response agencies, including the Metropolitan Police Department and the District of Columbia Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, and other District and federal agencies, as well as with the major utility companies and organizations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
